For Visual and Hearing Impaired

The library has an extensive collection of large print books, books in braille, and audiobooks (on CD, MP3 Playaways, and digital format) for patrons to borrow.  Using OverDrive or Libby to download ebooks and audiobooks is also a great option.

The New York State Library offers a Talking Book and Braille Library to eligible residents of upstate New York.  Call 1-800-342-3688 for assistance and more information.  The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped offer Braille and Audio Reading Downloads (BARD). To be eligible to use BARD, please review their requirements and complete the enrollment application.

Sign up with the American Action Fund for Blind Children and Adults to receive braille books through the mail, free of charge.  The Kenneth Jernigal Library will select books and magazines for you based on reading level and availability.
