W.K. Sanford Town Library Friends welcome new members.
If you’re not sure what we’re about, the Friends is a support organization to the Colonie Town Library. There are numerous ways the Friends help, such as paying for items that are not covered in the library’s annual budget. Money is raised by selling used books or holding special fundraisers. Here are some of the ways we have helped the library with the funds raised.
Your assistance is needed in many areas. Whether you can volunteer just an hour or on a regular basis, we can use you! There are many opportunities. Beginning in May when the Colonie Farmers Market opens at the Crossings on Saturday mornings, volunteers are needed in two-hour shifts to assist with used-book sales. You can also choose to assist at just one event such as selling raffle tickets, assembling food orders, etc. for an hour or two on a specific day.
It’s easy to join. Annual membership dues are modestly priced:
- $10 Individual Annual Membership
- $15 Family Annual Membership
- $8 Senior Annual Membership
- $250 Business Annual Membership
Just click HERE to pay membership dues by credit card.

*** END-OF-YEAR APPEAL ***
The Friends is holding its second Annual Appeal. You may remember our Giving Tree last year which was another big success. We hope we can count on all of our previous contributors this year. If you didn’t participate last year, please consider a donation before December 31. You may contribute by mail or online, and your donation may be in the memory of someone. Contributor names will be posted on a scrolling list on the screen at the Library’s front desk. If you do not wish to be included on the public list, please check the Anonymous box. Appeal letters and donation forms are available online or at the Front Desk. Thank you again for your contributions — we couldn’t help the Library without you.
The Murder Mystery Program was a huge success! Thank you to Carol and Jen and their team for such a great job. Based on audience response, we look forward to hosting this event again next year.
The Friends will be holding a Book Sale April 27-29, 2018. Beginning in January 2018, you may drop off books, DVDs, puzzles, etc. (no textbooks or encyclopedias please) at the Library’s back door. Please indicate to the staff that they are donations for the Friends or mark your boxes with FRIENDS. Thank you for supporting the Friends of the Library.
